Landing Pages vs. Homepage: Where Should Your Ads Send Traffic?

Published 2026-06-23 by Ember & Echo Multimedia

It's tempting to point every ad straight at your homepage, since it already exists and covers everything you do. It's also one of the most common reasons paid ads underperform for trades businesses.

01

Match the page to the exact ad, not your whole business

An ad for one specific service should land on a page about that exact service, not a homepage covering everything you do that the visitor didn't search for.

02

Cut the navigation menu on a landing page

A homepage invites exploration. A landing page should remove distractions and keep the visitor focused on one action: calling or requesting a quote.

03

Repeat the exact offer from the ad

If the ad promises same-day service, the landing page headline should say the same thing immediately, so the visitor knows they landed in the right place.

04

Keep the call-to-action visible without scrolling

A visitor who arrived from an ad is already interested. Don't make them hunt for the phone number or quote form.

05

Track landing pages separately from organic pages

A dedicated landing page URL makes it far easier to see exactly which ad, and which offer, is actually producing calls.
